This strip is from the inimitable KC Green. If you haven’t read his comics, shame on you. I’m not much of a gamer so my brother had to explain this to me. My brother also loves KC Green’s comics way more than he likes my comics. Thanks Kayce!

I don’t get it …
how can you possibly not get it
Super Mario Bros. 2 is very different compared to all over Super Mario Bros. games. If you played every single other Mario game, and then played that one, you would be shocked and confused and maybe, maybe a little existentially frightened? Maybe you would question everything you had ever known and loved. Maybe the world would not make sense to you at all anymore, suddenly a dark and foreboding place where once it was kind and loving.
Omg. This sums up my feelings on Super Mario Bros. 2 XD!!
Homg, when I was little this was my most favoritest of the Mario games on Super Mario All-Stars. xD
For those who don’t get it, this game in particular was like .. a far cry from the legit Mario games that everybody knows and loves .. when it comes to old-school Mario. :B
This is because it wasn’t really a Mario game. The real Mario 2 was unreleased in America for some reason (I think it was the difficulty level), so Nintendo stuck Mario characters into an unrelated game called Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panikku and released that in the American market
I always got to the level with the keys that turned on the flying masks and freaked out.
