well the greek pronunciation is [ˈʝiros], and that /ʝ/ is a voiced palatal fricative, so the close approximation I normally hear from my fellow americans tends to be /’χiros/ where the /χ/ is like the first sound in channukah (an unvoiced uvular fricative) or just an /h/ like you said since a lot of english speakers can’t say that right either. but what magnolia said is also acceptable, and is a lot easier to say.
side note: in japanese, some words are pronounced like they’re spelt: allergy becomes arurugi, even though normal loanword rules would have it pronounced like “araaji.” awesome, huh? basically the same thing happened with magnolia’s pronunciation, I’d wager. I like both ways to say it, myself.
on topic: I had no idea that girl was supposed to be Cleo’s sister? I thought she was just some neighborhood kid. I knew Cleo had one but didn’t connect the two characters.
So, regarding yesterday’s strip…does this mean there’s gonna be a copy of Monster Fuck marked “To Cleo From Adelaide” under the tree? Because that seems like it would be awkward.
I can’t believe this is the latest strip. I’ve been reading this comic since like 3 to 5 hours and now its OVER! 🙁
However, I’ll be back looking for an update. 😀
It’s adorable! And fun. Really entertaining.
And if I didn’t like your comic before I’d have been utterly in love with it the moment you made a reference to Pomplamoose! (No one in Germany knows this band.)
Have a nice day,
Bernadette.
PS: I was made aware of your fabulous comic by randomly trying out the links on meekcomic.com
Wait a minute, that 7 year old read Lord of the Rings? She had to read it for WHAT NOW? My copy is 1,103 pages long. And most of my 30 year old friends can’t get through it.
I do this comic for free, but if you like it and have a little extra to throw my way, I'd very much appreciate it.

Smart kid. This is all just too freakin’ cute. Happy x-mas!
Also: c’mon, it’s ‘hieeros’.

these past comics have been super quality, keep it up!
It should be pronounced Döner Kebab, but those haven’t taken off in the US yet. Its ok though because the rest of our fast food/junk food kicks ass.
That kid = fantastic

I want that kid. (In an entirely non-creepy way)
