I was born with a congenital joint defect and for the three years since I turned twenty being off of profoundly addictive painkillers for a matter of weeks has come to gradually rob me of my ability to stand or walk.
It doesn’t make anything in this comic untrue. It just makes it permanent.
The funny part of this post was just that one line from ‘Pukeahontas’, but now I think on it I trust the reader to look it up.
I didn’t want to pin down exactly what drugs he’s referring to here because i feel it’s best left to the reader’s own imagination and comfort zone. Apologies if it hit too close to home (at least I think that is what you are trying to say here) and hope your troubles are ones that can be alleviated.
And yeah that one Simpsons is an inspiration for this. I would like to have done more cinematic “shots” like in Barney’s movie but I opted not to, for reasons that will become clear as the story goes on.
You’ve got nothing to apologize for. It’s a great strip, and most people in similar situations have it a lot worse. (I’ve cared for people with much more corrosive and much less necessary addictions.) I think it’s possible for pathos and humor to work together, and anything involving Figley being self-aware is gonna be great for both.
The juxtaposition with Citizen The Mayor Cianci just makes it perfect.
This is awesome, and I could see it going a couple ways. The one my money is on that Marlene is going to be apart of this movie as how he may have gotten better, or that this movie is all a cry for help.
Yep, still want to be besties with him. We’d go on picnics where we’re both like “Dude, you said you were bringing the food and I’d get the beer” and then we’d get trashed anyway and knock over a hotdog cart while trying to steal condiments to eat.
Yay! More Figley character development. We get to see the artistic, remorseful side of Marlene’s goofball boyfriend. I wonder how this will affect their relationship?
This reminds me of the comic book series Brooklyn Dreams by J. M. DeMatteis… maybe it’s just the whole idea of the grown-up narrator pacing through his past.
I do this comic for free, but if you like it and have a little extra to throw my way, I'd very much appreciate it.

this dude knows what’s up.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha h- uh. . .
Um . . .
Well.
Is this funny? 🙁
It’s not meant to be, no. At least, Daniel’s movie isn’t.

My love for Figley grows every day.
Poor dude.
Well, this would explain a good bit about my ex girlfriend’s truthfulness habits.
